The infrastructure that connects North East communities to one another and to the rest of the country is not at the standard in ought to be. The SNP have promised our region time and again that they would make improvements yet we are still waiting.
The Scottish Government’s R100 broadband rollout remains behind schedule. Slow internet speeds are a pain for everyone but in our modern, highspeed world these connections are more important than ever. Our economy needs to be supercharged with the internet speeds we expect so households and businesses are not held behind.
Our road infrastructure remains unsuitable. We were promised by the SNP that the A96 would be dualled, we’re still waiting. Their lack of investment has meant that critical points along major roads are extremely dangerous such as the Toll of Birness and the junction at Laurencekirk. While we wait for the SNP to take action, more lives are put at risk.
Like our roads or rail connections are sorely lacking. Travel times remain slow and communities underserved. That’s why I’ve joined my Scottish Conservative colleagues in calling for rail connections to communities in Banffshire and Buchan Coast.
