The Turriff Show, the biggest two-day agricultural show in Scotland, took place on the 4th and 5th of August 2024. On the second day Douglas attended the show to take part in a cross-party panel event hosted by the National Farmers Union of Scotland.
During the event Douglas took part in discussions ranging from the impact of proposed pylon infrastructure, land reform and financial support for Scotland’s producers.
At the show Douglas was joined by Conservative colleagues from across the North and wider Scotland, including new Gordan and Buchan Member of Parliament Harriet Cross and Scottish Conservative leadership contender Russell Findlay MSP.
Douglas and Harriet spoke of the Scottish Conservative’s priorities for Scotland’s famers including extending the Seasonal Worker Visa Scheme, creating a Natural Flood Management Fund, protecting Scottish agriculture in future trade deals and tackling rural crime with a Rural Theft Bill.
With over 300 exhibitors attending the show showcasing their work such as local food and drink producers and industry leaders the show attracts around 24,000 people.
Douglas also met with the British Association of Shooting and Conservation to hear about their work in supporting the shooting sector and its huge contribution to rural Scotland’s economy.
