The SNP Scottish Government currently plan on hiking council tax for almost 34,000 households in Aberdeen. These plans could see many Aberdonian families across the city paying up to £800 more in council tax every year, a potential 22.5% increase.
It is under the SNP that we have seen hardworking Scottish families already become the highest taxed in the UK. Yet the SNP have cut central funding for local government year on year. Resulting in Councils across Scotland being forced to make severe and unnecessary cuts to vital services.
The proposed plans would see households in bands E-H hit with massive hikes of up to £821 in their council tax bills.
We have sadly seen this in Aberdeen for many years. Our city has had to put up with higher rates and then see monies raised here taxed away to fund SNP pet projects in the Central Belt. Leaving Aberdonians with the spare change.
Now the SNP are looking to help themselves to even more of your money to make up for their disgraceful underfunding of local services.
During a global cost-of-living crisis with families across Aberdeen struggling to make ends meet, high council tax bills are the last thing we all need. That’s why the Scottish Conservatives are calling on the SNP to ditch the hike and stop hammering families with even higher bills.
You can join our campaign by taking part in my survey and by going to the Scottish Conservative's national campaign here to tell the SNP you’ve had enough.
Myself and my colleagues in the Scottish Conservatives will continue fighting against the SNPs anti-North East stance in Holyrood.
